Environmentally Responsible CNC Machining for Aviation and Aerospace

Aviation and aerospace manufacturers have a lot to live up to. Along with exacting requirements for precision, performance, and quality, manufacturers are under increasing pressure to do their jobs in a responsible manner. Here at W Machine Works, we are proud to accept and fulfill that responsibility, and our company-wide culture of sustainability, safety, and quality is the foundation for that commitment.

At W Machine Works in California, we produce top quality aviation CNC parts and precision aerospace sub-assemblies using advanced manufacturing techniques and equipment. Our experienced engineers and machinists operate cutting-edge CNC machining and 5-axis machining centers, along with unattended milling systems. While we are focused on quality and precision, we also carefully consider the environmental impact of every step in the manufacturing process, from material selection and waste reduction, to energy conservation and pollution prevention.

CNC machining with environmental responsability

Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Policy

Our commitment to protecting the environment, as well as the safety of our employees, customers, and community, is outlined in our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Policy.

In all activities, at W Machine Works, we are dedicated to conducting our business and operations in a manner that safeguards the health and safety of our associates, customers and the community while protecting the environment.

We are committed to:

  • Full compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations in our San Fernando, CA facility and continuously evaluate and improve our efforts to achieve compliance.
  • Integrating environmental, health and safety principles into manufacturing and business processes, including design, procurement, production, assembly and inspection.
  • Preventing pollution and reducing emissions, energy and water use, waste and all negative impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems.
  • Avoiding injury and ill-health at work and taking action to improve health and safety performance in our plants worldwide.

Precision and Sustainability in CNC Machining

Our advanced 5-axis machining and unattended milling capabilities are ideal for the most exacting parts, and also allow us to optimize energy and material use. Automated and palletized systems are used whenever possible, to reduce waste associated with setup changes and other interruptions. By minimizing non-productive machining time, we maximize spindle uptime and minimize idle time, to create an efficient machining process that is both cost-effective and more sustainable.

As a certified AS9100 and ITAR compliant manufacturing facility, W Machine Works adheres to the highest quality and traceability standards for aerospace and defense manufacturing. We not only meet those exacting standards, we help our customers meet their own sustainability requirements through our commitment to responsible manufacturing practices.

Environmentally Responsible Manufacturing

Responsible CNC machining is about more than equipment efficiency and waste minimization, though that’s an important start. An environmentally responsible manufacturing operation also means designing and operating facilities that reduce emissions, respect and minimize impact on the surrounding community, and carefully assess the potential environmental impacts of introducing new products, materials, and processes.

The combination of precision manufacturing and environmentally responsible practices is what makes W Machine Works such a valuable partner for our customers. We understand how to help customers integrate aviation CNC parts from California into their operations and supply chains while also meeting their sustainability requirements and even exceeding their goals for environmental responsibility.

A Clean and Sustainable Future

Manufacturers of aerospace and defense systems and components have a huge responsibility to meet their customers’ technical and performance requirements while also doing everything in their power to protect the environment. W Machine Works remains focused on leading by example and we see our environmentally responsible CNC machining processes as a critical component of our efforts. Through our responsible manufacturing processes and our dedication to continuous improvement, we are working to help our customers build a better, more sustainable future for aerospace and beyond.
